The world is saved. The dark sorcerer who wanted to destroy it is defeated. But Merrick Stoutheart, the prophesied hero, has no memory of her victory. Newly awakened from a coma, she is elevated to the status of the world’s savior and the leader of a nation, despite having no idea who she truly is. Everyone insists that she is the right person to rule the new world while she struggles to embody the identity of a stranger. But these efforts are soon interrupted by an unexpected newcomer – the Dark Shepherd, the very sorcerer who once sought to destroy all life. Only he, too, does not remember his deeds, or his name. As the expectations bear down on her, Merrick realizes that the best comfort she can find comes from the least expected place – her former arch nemesis, whose current motivations are still shrouded in mystery.

Smothered under the weight of the new world, Merrick must decide who to trust with her deepest fears, or risk existence itself falling into the darkness once more.
